River Ground Water and Sediment Quality

Assessment of Data

The general methods for analysis of river, outfalls and well water compositions:

  • Each well is purged with a peristaltic pump ,and flow cell is continuously monitored for temperature,pH,Eh, Dissolved Oxygen and specific conductance until stable.
  • Normal methods include measuring of concentration using sulfide vacu-vials (Chemetrics),Colorimetric analysis, potentiometric titration.
  • Samples will be filtered through 0.45 mm polyethersulfone membrane filters if needed.
  • Volatile Organic compounds (VOCs) require analysis by purge and trap gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GCMS).
  • Normally organic and inorganic portions are separated and frozen until analysis.
  • Inorganic Compounds are extracted using microwave digestion and organics can be analysed using one of the above methods.
